The story behind CNCF Landscape A to Z began over four years ago while working at an IoT company (Vosker). My teammates and I felt we weren’t doing enough technology watching. Balancing busy workloads with dedicated exploration time was a struggle, so we came up with a playful compromise: naming each of our development sprints after a tool from the CNCF landscape! 😆 What started as a handy little CLI utility to parse the official CNCF Landscape YAML file and select a bi-weekly candidate quickly became a fun routine.

With over 1,000 tools, the CNCF Landscape can be overwhelming. It’s easy to get lost in the sea of logos and categories. We believe it might be easier if you get to know the full Landscape over a year by looking at it one letter at a time. From A to Z, that’s 26 letters. By dedicating two weeks to each letter, you will have explored the entire ecosystem in exactly one year (52 weeks).

We’ve officially entered the third phase of our A-to-Z journey! After an insightful look at the ‘B’ projects like Backstage and Buildpacks, we are now diving into one of the most content-rich letters in the entire landscape: C. The letter ‘C’ is a powerhouse. It houses some of the most fundamental pillars of cloud native computing, including: Cloud Native Storage: High-performance, distributed storage solutions that make stateful applications possible on Kubernetes.
